Rules Expository Final Draft- Wyatt Applegate

In 1960, four African American college students sat down at a “whites only” lunch counter. This is basically stating that it is okay to break the rules, but I have a different opinion. If you feel like you do want to break the rules, feel free to come face to face with the risks of getting in trouble or hurting yourself.

The reason that it is not right to break the rules is because you could get in trouble. When I was in kindergarten, my teacher told my class to start cleaning up. It was the end of the day, so I was eager to go home. My teacher, Mrs. Hoss, saw me sitting against the wall, not cleaning up like the other kids. I told her that I didn’t want to clean up. She told me it was either I clean up or I were to go to the office. Needless to say, I made a trip to the office that day.

It’s not a good thing to break the rules because you could hurt yourself. One time, I was at my grandmother’s house. She and my dad were working outside, and I was told to stay inside. I didn’t follow the rules and walked outside. I saw a stump and placed an object in front of it to jump over. When I jumped, my foot slipped. I fell and scraped my leg.

Rules, we all have to follow them. If not, the previous could happen. In 1960, there were four African Americans that sat down at a lunch counter for “whites only,” because they wanted to make a point. In my opinion, they did something wrong.

The best gift given

The best gift that I gave this past Christmas was a necklace. I got this necklace for my mom because she cares about me so much. When she opened the box, her face was in shock. That made me feel really good about the choice I made, and about myself. I felt like that because I knew right away that she had loved that necklace. When you get a reaction like that one, you know how that person feels about you… They love you.

Poem Project

I am strong!

I am left out and ignored,

no one listens; they get bored.

I am always called a fool,

but I want to be called cool.

I want to be  talked to  someday,

but all I get is people turning away.

I am thought of as not number one,

but I think it can be done.

I don’t get why they lie,

they always think that I am shy.

They don’t think I am seen,

but they don’t have to be so mean.

5th Grade Reflection

This year was a very educational experience with a lot of challenges to overcome. I hadn’t thought about the facts and history we would have learned this year. I have gained much more confidence and knowledge than last year. The teachers this year have helped me power through the stressful tests and quizzes throughout 5th grade. I have enjoyed this year and so will you, so you will not have to be under a lot of stress in the 5th grade.

he was a true inspiration

he sadly died in his own house

he truly was a great American Patriot and hero

In 1931 it was very hard to find a job, because the great depression had hit Tennessee hard. One day, Hazel’s dad had come home really sad, because he’d lost his job. Later, Hazel and her mom went to a baseball game. Hazel and a boy named Timmy went to sit down, and Hazel saw Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, and Jackie Mitchell. Babe Ruth was one of the all-time greats of baseball history. Timmy had a nickel, so he bought a box of Cracker Jack. A nickel would probably not be enough for Cracker Jacks today. Most things were way cheaper back then than they are now. Timmy and his friends were kind of mean to Hazel. I bet they wouldn’t act any different now than they did back then.
